About The Author

A lifelong resident of Chesterfield Co., Virginia (just outside Richmond), I attended the University of Richmond and earned a Bachelor’s Degree in economics. After two years at the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, earning a Masters in finance, I returned to the Richmond area and began what would grow into a forty-year career as a professional investment manager.

My family has resided in central Virginia since the seventeenth century, and I have identified nine ancestors who served in Robert E. Lee’s Army of Northern Virginia, including two members of Pickett’s Division who made the charge at Gettysburg. My lifelong hobbies have been the Civil War and writing, and retirement has enabled me to combine these two passions. My wife Pat and I have four children and eight grandchildren.
