Richmond - Mid August. Held at the Showplace on Mechanicsville Turnpike
(Route 360 east as you leave Richmond). Known as the "National
Civil War & Antique Arms Show", it is sponsored by the North-

*Model 1860 Civil War Spencer carbine, serial #35309. Good wood, good
finish, all original and in good working order. Presence of a cartouche,
though feint, indicates that it was issued into service. An above-average
example. $2,750.
*Model 1863 Civil War Sharps carbine, serial #C5895. All original except the
two tang screws and rear-sight cross bar. Both wood and metal show honest
wear but are in good condition. Bore is good. A nice solid Civil War Sharps.

*Model 1863 Civil War Sharps carbine, serial #C21080. All original, no
repairs, and showing only the wear one would expect on a 140-year-old gun,
which is what you like to see. Initials “E.R.C.” on the hammer side of the
stock appear to have been carved during the period of usage. $2,200.
*Model 1855 Harper’s Ferry 3-band musket, dated 1858. Average condition
with some pitting, especially around lock area. Wood is good. $2,250.
*Model 1840 cavalry sabre and scabbard. Handle has original leather and
wire wrapping with some wear on leather. Blade and metal scabbard are
average. Maker unknown. Probably an import. $495.
*Set of brass Civil War cavalry shoulder scales. Average condition. $250.
*Civil War era wooden ballot box with about a dozen voting marbles, some
black, some white. These boxes were used by the volunteer regiments to
elect officers, with a black marble being a no, or “blackball” vote. $165.
*Civil War era tin coffee boiler, about quart-size. These were used to boil the
coffee grounds, which were then separated out by pouring the liquid through
a strainer. $110.
*1870’s Remington Rolling Block rifle, caliber .43 (the Spanish contract).
Good bore, overall excellent condition. $495.
*Three socket bayonets for a Remington Rolling Block rifle. Dark finish but
good condition. $85 each, or two for $150, or three for $210.
*World War I field officer’s sword and scabbard. Excellent condition. Blade is
plain. Scabbard shows some wear. $235.
